Academic House, The University of Toledo
Toledo, Ohio
Project Details
The Academic House Dormitory was designed for 400 students in the Honors Program at the University. It provides a collegiate environment conducive for a living-learning experience where students, advisors, and faculty interact regularly. The dormitory was the first major structure in the expansion area of the main campus along the Ottawa River. Siting of the building was sensitively considered as were the choices of exterior materials. The University desired strong identification with the collegiate Gothic style prevalent throughout the campus. The resultant product with its brick and metal exterior is modern, but blends well with and enhances the existing campus architecture.
